First Saturday is all about shopping and dining, and while the typical “Fire in Ice” programming is canceled this year, Downtown Frederick’s small businesses are open and ready to provide you with safe and unique shopping and dining experiences.

Downtown Frederick’s small businesses will be open for shopping, dining and regular First Saturday activities (following all relevant occupancy restrictions and public health guidelines), so grab your mask and get ready for February First Saturday in Downtown Frederick! Gambrill State Park

Looking for a great family-friendly place to go hiking? Gambrill State Park is a narrow 1100 acre tract of land 6 miles west of Frederick, MD that straddles the Catoctin Mountain Ridge.

There are 6 moderate trails in Gambrill State Park ranging from 1 to 6.7 miles and from 1,341 to 1,709 feet above sea level. Start checking them out and you’ll be out on the trail in no time!

Tree Trekkers

Tree Trekkers is a family-friendly, outdoor adventure recreation facility, offering adventure-seekers of all ages the chance to swing, zip and climb their way through the trees!  Crossing bridges, tight rope walks, tunnels and more, climbers take on aerial obstacle courses that can climb up to heights of more than 50ft above the forest floor.

Catoctin Colorfest

Colorfest, established in 1963, is one of the largest outdoor craft shows on the East Coast! The colorfest is not just an event, but an experience!  Amazing crafts, art, jewelry, clothing and a variety of delicious food is located throughout town.

Demonstrations by various crafters will take place throughout the two days, including broom making, wood turnings, and wood carvings of flowers. This event is scheduled to happen October 9th and 10th 2021.

Frederick Festival of the Arts

Celebrating 27 years, the Frederick Festival of the Arts invites art lovers to enjoy a showcase of the finest national artists. Exhibitors are hand-picked by an independent jury, giving all who attend the best of quality fine art and a craft market section.

There will be over 150 exhibitors featuring diverse mediums including jewelry, clay, painting, sculpture, metal, leather, digital, fiber, wood, photography, and mixed-media.

Enjoy meeting those who create the work to hear their inspiration, techniques and unique perspective on what makes art. This event is scheduled to take place June 12th and 13th 2021.

 The Record Exchange believes in bringing music to the people at affordable prices on whatever format is popular… be it CD or vinyl! No matter what day you stop in, you’ll definitely find something worth getting.

This place is very unique with different vinyl covers in the ceiling so don’t forget to look up! It’s also very organized and not difficult to find what you’re looking for. Prepare to spend an hour in here… you never know what gem you could find!

As Frederick’s newer premiere rock climbing facility, their success is achieved by means of providing the community with the convenience of diverse health and fitness methods under one roof. Specializing in “bouldering”, their 6000 square foot facility currently has 3000 square feet of bouldering surface with “problem ratings” from beginner to advanced which change every five weeks keeping members satisfied with new problems throughout the year.

The main floor also includes free weights, boxing equipment, and hang-boards for other training techniques. The second floor provides a hardwood floor studio for yoga, group fitness, and MMA classes with room for twenty plus members and classes for all ages.
